Cannabidiol or cbd for dogs is a rare but very useful cannabidiol that has recently been discovered by scientists. Cannabidiol is an unknown phytocannabinoid found in last 1940. It accounts for more than 40% of the total plant’s extracts and is one of the potent phytocannabinoids in cannabis. It has the similar structure as THC, which is a psychoactive component of cannabis. But unlike THC, CBD does not produce the “high” associated with marijuana.
What are the health benefits of CBD? Several recent studies show that CBD may reduce the negative side effects related to chemotherapy. In one study, elderly cancer patients were administered either CBD or marijuana. Those who took CBD reported fewer headaches, had less nausea, less depression and anxiety and had better sleep. In another study, CBD was shown to help treat nausea, reduce vomiting, help relieve the side effects of chemotherapy, slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease and improve certain symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
How is it used? Medical doctors and scientists have started to consider CBD as a viable alternative to prescription pain management medication, such as narcotics or hydrocodone. The chief advantage of using CBD is that it has fewer side effects, less addiction and it is derived from the same chemical family as cannabis. Doctors have also reported that patients using medical marijuana report fewer symptoms of nausea, depression and anxiety, while others say that taking CBD has led to improvement or maintenance of symptoms in people diagnosed with schizophrenia and other psychoses.
What are the side effects of CBD? It is not known if CBD can help treat or prevent different diseases and conditions, including serious ones like Autism. But some experts believe that the side effects of CBD can be diminished by combining it with certain other herbs, nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Taking one half of a raw hemp plant has been found to be an effective combination for treating depression, chronic fatigue, arthritis, diabetes, anxiety disorders, epilepsy, migraine headaches, irritable bowel syndrome and other health conditions and injuries.
Is it safe to use CBD? The short answer to the question above is that at this time, there is no evidence that proves CBD is unsafe or ineffective when used under the proper conditions. However, before you use CBD, you should always read the warning labels and use your doctor’s advice about using it. There are animal studies that have shown possible side effects of CBD in animals and if you are pregnant or nursing it may not be safe for you or your unborn baby.
Have CBD oil or cannabidiol been tested in people with diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other diseases? It is true that we cannot test humans for these diseases because we would need them to undergo many tests. However, there have been some animal and human tests where CBD was shown to be effective in reducing or controlling some of the signs of these diseases.
